Lucky Number 13. Random Chapter for Revision

I chose to read chapter 7, “so what, who cares”, Saying why it matters. My essays tend to get off topic when I write about something I’m passionate about. I chose this chapter because I realized I had some ideas in my essay that were fun to explore, but didn’t belong. Stopping and asking myself “who cares” was beneficial because it narrowed the scope of my essay. It made me think of why I was writing in the first place. I picked specific topics and ideas and tried to stick with them. I don’t have a before and after, but the topic I chose to stick with was how science is too linear to be enjoyable without an artistic outlook. I went into detail on what that would look like in a physical therapy setting and how the application of art benefits almost every scenario. The only time art for arts sake is bad in PT is when that could give rise to unscientific discoveries that aren’t proven and that could really damage a patient. Overall, I wanted to tie this essay into how we perceive the world. The way we look at our job could determine how fun or fulfilling it is, and in the end, give lasting meaning to your life. I think that’s an idea worth exploring.
